27th June 2020 will be ingrained in my mind as one of the turning points of my life. It so happened that I attended the maiden online session of the ‘Dream to Dare Series’ under the flagship of Women in ISHRAE. The speaker of the day was Squadron Leader Tulika Rani. I did have a fair idea about the lady as I had read about her in Class 9 English textbook of CBSE. So I was pretty sure it would be fascinating to hear the details of the dare and the dreams straight from the horse’s mouth. The inspiring talk went on in the form of a candid interview. And how I can miss mentioning Miss Glory. She has the knack of asking questions and keeps the ball rolling.
Every word spoken by Squadron Leader Tulika Rani during the one hour three minutes has been a take away for me. Eventually a thought sprouted in my mind : Why not share the powerful words with all! And here is the share for you from ‘ Dare to Dream Series – 1st Inspiring talk by Squadron Leader Tulika Rani’
As a student, Tulika Ma’am had been studious and disciplined. NCC taught her to push her physical limits. An Airforce Officer by the age of 21 and further becoming a mountaineer achieving exceptional feat!
Mothers are the foundation of the success of a child. “Focus on what you have to do” the statement from the officer’s mother paved her success story.
Fathers should teach daughters to sustain in every circumstance. Give her the freedom. Support her in every way. Someone has said ‘Behind the success of every man there is a woman’ in the same way ‘Behind the success of every girl there is a man’. If a father is protective towards his daughter, he has to be protective towards every female around him irrespective of the relationship.
Mountains teach us to be grounded when we reach the heights. Be persistent. Have solidarity. Have fortitude. Never forget humanity. Be selfless. Love nature as it is fascinating. Nothing is constant in this world.
Set only one goal at a time. One should not only be physically but also mentally strong to achieve the goal. Mind has tremendous power to bring about the desired change. Mind and not just body should be aligned with the set goal.
When a team member wins, the complete team wins.
When we fail, we feel dejected and pained. We cry. It’s okay. After that one has to sit and introspect. Identify the root cause of the failure and work upon it.
Discard the inflated ego.
In certain corner of the mind we have the fear of death and injury. Fight against this fear. Make your mind strong enough to give that extra push. Come out full-throttle.
Performance can’t be delivered in a day. It’s a matter of continuous dedicated practice.
Take calculated risks to achieve the goals. When you have to make a choice between injury and self-esteem, the latter should be the choice.
When one has accomplished the Goal, he has to be more alert. During the accomplishment much of the energy has been utilised, so one becomes tired, lax, and complacent. What you did is already a past. Focus on the next goal. Don’t lose the energy.
A task is always difficult in the initial stage. It is miserable and struggling. If one persists, bear the initial pain, later on it becomes less miserable. In the latter stage you start enjoying the task. Focus on the far-sighted goal. Learn not to give up.
Positivity is a combination of hope and failure, happiness and grief. It depends on the attitude of the individual – what you choose and reject. If one rejects all negatives and embraces positivity, nothing can stop him from excelling. It will help to mould his life and beat the oddities. It will help to spread hope and not despair. Positivity helps to carve the unique niche.
Society is a combination of men and women. It is a combined force. So, one cannot talk about a man or a woman in isolation.
Females of our society should do unconventional things in their lives. While walking on the unconventional paths, families may not support. Never lose the spirit. Be financially independent to manoeuvre your life. Be practical. Do not invest too much emotion in everyone and everything. Channelize your emotions. Be a performer and not just feminine. Never make your gender your weakness. Make it your strength. A woman should learn to cope up with emotions. While dealing with a problem, don’t ever keep crying. Identity the root of the problem.
You are never alone. God, Nature and your own self is always with you. Make them your best friends.
Failures are not the end. They are not final. We can reconstruct; rebuild; survive any tragedy. Hold on for the dark night will pass.
Dear Readers, each word has been a propeller for me and I am sure by now you resonate with me.
