Yesterday, my daughters watched this movie and it took me to my memory lanes. I love numbers and always wanted to be in Stock business, When I completed my Finance course, I went to Mumbai Dalal Street and asked for a job, without paying any salary , as I wanted to learn. I knew , I could excel.
Back then,nothing worked !
So decided to pursue Masters in Financial Mathematics in USA, in anticipation that I can crack that bull. So , just like Mumbai’s Dalal street visits, I went to Chicago downtown offices, yeah in those days, you could still walk into office for a job , surprised ?
One firm showed the intent and I modeled their portfolio by doing a super ensemble techniques. They were impressed , but again destiny didn’t wanted to walk along with me. As on both occasions, we were hit with the worst financial crisis. Then to survive, I opted to become statistician and followed that path.
Towards end of the movie, Will smith come out in the crowd and is seen clapping his hands with tears in his eyes. Ira asked, why is he clapping and even having tears – I said, that’s called happiness – Its a very private moment even when you are surrounded with crowds, because only you know what it takes to achieve that success.
Few days back, one of my colleague sent me a pdf, related to financial modeling paper , I asked him , what’s this ? He said, thats what you have thought to develop during your struggling phase.
That reminded me, that my moment of Happiness is yet to arrive. Its time that I take on that BULL !
