The IISc Bangalore and IITs are well-known, the world over, for quality education in engineering, science, management, social sciences and research in frontier areas.JAM is conducted for M.Sc. (Two Years), Masters in Economics (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programmes & Integrated Ph.D. Programmes.
IISc Bangalore is the Organizing Institute for JAM 2021. JAM 2021 Examination will be conducted ONLINE only as a Computer Based Test (CBT) for all Test Papers. JAM 2021 will have seven Test Papers, namely, (i) Biotechnology (BT), (ii) Chemistry (CY), (iii) Economics (EN), (iv) Geology (GG), (v) Mathematics (MA), (vi) Mathematical Sciences (MS) and (vii) Physics (PH).
Economics (EN) paper is added newly this year.
All the seven Test Papers of JAM 2021 will be of entirely objective type, with three different patterns of questions, namely (i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), (ii) Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and (iii) Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
Applications will be accepted ONLINE only through JAM 2021 website.
No hardcopies of documents are to be sent to the Organizing Institute. The applicable documents are to be uploaded online to the application website only.
No hardcopy of the JAM 2021 scorecard will be sent to the JAM 2021 qualified candidates by the Organizing Institute. It can only be downloaded from JAM 2021 website within a specified period.
NO additional requirements, such as suitability test or interview, are needed for admission to the Masters programmes under JAM.
Integrated Ph.D. programmes in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Biological Sciences at IISc Bangalore will use the JAM results to shortlist candidates for the final selection.
Candidates can apply for JAM 2021 only through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) link available at the website http://jam.iisc.ac.in. The facility for Online Registration and Application will be available through the website http://jam.iisc.ac.in from September 10, 2020. A candidate has to first register on the JOAPS website by providing his/her name, a valid E-mail address, a working mobile number and a password. The candidate must give an E-mail address that he/she uses and checks frequently, as all communication to the candidate from JAM 2021 will be sent to this E-mail address. The candidate must not use someone else’s E-mail address and only one candidate can be registered with one E-mail address. Similarly, the candidate should provide his/her personal mobile number because most of the communication may also be sent via SMS. The password that the candidate provides should be chosen such that it cannot be guessed easily by others and this password must not be forgotten by the candidate as he/she will require it to login to the online application website. Upon successful registration, an E-mail containing the candidate’s Enrolment ID will be sent to the E-mail address provided by the candidate. The Enrolment ID will also be sent to the mobile number provided by the candidate. The candidate needs to use this enrolment ID along with the password for all JAM 2021 related communications or website operations. Candidates are advised to keep the ID along with the password information safe and confidential.
The application fee is to be paid online only. Fees for female (all categories), Sc/ST/PwD is Rs.750/- and all others will have fees of Rs.1500/-
An application once submitted CAN NOT be changed/rectified. Therefore, before submitting the JAM 2021 application, please ensure that all the details and all the necessary supporting documents are filled/uploaded and there is NO ERROR.
