Hi everyone, today I am going to share my journey which is an ordinary story with some extraordinary end.
I am Shriniwas Ambad, a boy with a south Indian name but in and out Maharashtrian. I was born and brought up in Ambejogai a drought-prone area thus education was the only way out. I started as a sharp student, always claiming the first rank in primary school. Then in 6th, I joined Sainik school Satara, a school that shaped not just the student’s intellect but their overall personality. Sainik school’s main aim was to prepare students for the armed forces, and I carried that dream for life. Unfortunately, in the 9th I had to leave school due to economic issues, and this made a negative impact on my life. Academics has not been the same to me as it was before. I passed 10th with 74% when 5 of my classmates scored 100/100, in short, I was totally out of the competition. The worst was yet to come, with this percentage I joined a local diploma college which was not so famous for tutoring. This environment led to nothing but discouragement. In the very first semester, I barely passed in other subjects and failed in Maths, this was the least I can go.
My sister who has always been my strong supporter knew it was just a lack of motivation and believed in me more than I did. She took out time from her engineering studies and started dedicating time on me. We first figured out what subjects I am good at and what all I need to work on. Then we prepared a timetable for studies and gave major importance to revision. As a result, I passed in all the subjects including previous maths paper. This incident improved the importance of maths in my life, in 3rd semester I topped my college in maths with 90 marks and then never looked back. I passed my diploma in distinction and joining K K Wagh Engineering College, Nashik, which ranked 7th at that time. In engineering, I was blessed with good associations. I joined ISKCON Nashik, which was headed by an Ex Indian air force fighter pilot and my roommate was an all 4-year university gold medallist. Their guidance and association helped me to evolve in multiple domains. It was the time when I realized the importance of meditation in student’s life and over a period of time I made it a lifestyle. To overcome the economic crisis I also worked in my college library on contract basis which helped me to earn my bread. In engineering I also focused on participating and organizing events, I won 2 nation-level paper presentation competitions and 1 state level competition. Before completing my final year I was campus placed in reliance communication and joined just 10 days after my final exam.
Job in reliance was all an engineering graduate can dream for, but joining the Indian armed forces had always been a dream which did not let me sleep. Within a few months, I left my job and decided to prepare for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam. It is conducted by UPSC as an entrance for all the 3 forces. After 6 months of studies, I passed the exam but could not make it in the SSB interview. I once again gathered all my will but SSB was my panipath. As per age criterion, I was not able to appear for exam again thus I started taking IT coaching and joined corporate. I joined as a manual tester, then while working I started exploring my profile and studied coding languages and switched to automation. I never wished to settle at the same technology thus I was continually researching upcoming corporate requirements. After the USA presidential elections in 2016, there was a news all over the world which claimed President Trump used citizen’s online data to know their choices and prepared his campaign accordingly. I researched more about it and got to know the techniques behind summering the online data and it is called “Data Science”. So from 2019, I was always searching for some better place to learn Data Science. My sister who was preparing for MBA from IIM came across Business Analysis and Data Science program at IIM Indore. Entry to IIM was through a written aptitude exam and Interview. My mathematics skills kept me at a better place in written and corporate experience gave an upper hand in the interview. I finally made it in the list and now I work on weekdays and attend distant lectures on weekends. I am experiencing the busiest days ever but I consider it as just a beginning. I have been through the days where I had only negative thoughts and no ray of hope and today many parents come to me with their child to guide him about the life opportunities and I motivate them to explore and achieve the best they can.
At the end I would like to say, Failures are bound to come but how quickly to rise again makes you different from others. I would like to narrate my own written Shayari on the same line.
हारा होगा तु किस्मत के पन्नो पर
बस उसे आदत ना बना देना ।
कल दुनिया तेरे कदम चूमेगी
आज थोडा हौसला उधार लेना ।।
