All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society (AISSMS) was established in 1917 by the great social reformer, education protagonist and great visionary, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur to promote the noble cause of education to all strata of society especially the under privileged and economically backward class. All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s College of Engineering, Pune (AISSMS COE) was established in 1992 and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and is recognized under section 2(f) and 12(B) by UGC. It is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra, affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune and accredited with A+ grade by NAAC (3.27 CGPA). The vision which drives this esteemed co-education engineering institute is “Service to society through quality education”. The institute been a pioneer for providing technical education leading to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Nine engineering streams, Master of Engineering (ME) in Six streams and PhD research centre for 5 engineering streams. These spheres of Engineering include specializations like Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical, Mechanical Sandwich, Production Sandwich and Robotics and Automation Engineering. In a span of 5 years AISSMS COE has yielded 123 University toppers. AISSMS College of Engineering received the “Best Professional College” Award in Urban Category by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune 2020-21. The Head of the institute has also bagged ‘The Best Principal’s award’ by SPPU in 2021-22 and ‘The Best Principal’s award’ from ISTE Maharashtra and Goa Section in 2021-22. The college promotes its students for overall development through for rigorous teacher learning, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The students are encouraged to participate in the professional activities, besides regular academic work, to enhance their technical as well as soft skills. The Institute has student chapters covering the niche area like Automotive, Aeromodelling, Refrigeration & Air conditioning, Solar energy, TRIZ etc. Students Chapter of several professional organizations are established in the institute including ISTE, IEEE, IETE, IEI, SESI, ISHRAE, AIChE, IMechE, TRIZ, IUCEE, IIChE, WWA etc. Students enthusiastically design and construct of efficient vehicles under Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) student chapter such as SAE-BAJA, SUPRA, EFFICYCLE, AERODESIGN, Robot & Drone Club and participate at National and International level. The students of AISSMS COE have bagged several prestigious awards like Team Garudashwa bagged 1st rank in Global Technical Design Report and 2nd Globally in Overall Performance during the SAE International Aero Design West 2022 Competition, AIR 2nd Overall Rank for Team Resonance Racing during ‘SAE REEV 2022’, Team Resonance Racing BAJA bagged the AIR 3rd overall in BAJA SAE India 2022 etc. Team QuantumGIS bagged the 1st prize in Smart India Hackathon 2022 with a cash prize of 1 lakh for solving the problem statement posed for Madhya Pradesh Police. The Institute greatly focuses on cultural and sports events such as inter-college theatre competition in which the students bagged the winner’s position at the Firodia Karandak 2022 event and 14 individual awards such as Best Director, Actor male 2nd, Best Music Team, Best Bass Guitar, Singing Runner-up, Best Backstage Best Miniature Chroma are just a few to name. In Sports, the students of AISSMS COE have bagged National, State and District level Kickboxing Competitions bagging Gold Medals at all levels, National and State Level Athletics 100m and 200m Running Championship and has bagged 3 Gold and 3 silver medals, 3rd prize in Zonal matches Javelin Throw 2022 organized by SPPU, silver medal in state Level Taekwondo Championship, Represented the Indian NCC delegation in Dhaka, Bangladesh during the Victory-day celebration under youth exchange program, Government of India. The institute uses various ICT tools such as NPTEL, Virtual Lab, Moodle which enhances the student understanding & learning outcomes. For various co-curricular and extracurricular activities in technical, cultural and sports events, the college provides students with dignified platforms and helps them achieve a finesse in their talents.
The institute caters the need of Trainings, Placements and Career guidance to students by strengthening its interaction with industry and the Alumni. Pre-placement and industry specific training are done at every stage of their undergraduate studies along with enhancing their aptitude, communication and soft skills. Several renowned Multinational Companies visit our institute such as Reliance Industries, Alkyl Amines Chemical Limited, Ultratech, L&T, IBM, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Tata Motors, BAJAJ Auto, Bharat Forge, Siemens, Bosch, THERMAX, Forbes Marshall, FIAT, Hyundai to name a few.
The institute is continuously associated with community development project conducted under National Service Scheme (NSS) and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) of MHRD, Government of India. The NSS team undertakes initiatives for the betterment of community such as socio-economic survey of villages, Women empowerment program, deaddiction workshop, Swachha Bharat Abhiyan. The institute has adopted 5 villages carrying out different community building activities such as health check-up programs, donation of computers, computer literacy and English-Speaking Classes in primary schools, tree plantation and tree adoption etc.
