DIAT in association with Cranfield University (CU) proposes to commence a Double Degree (DD) program from the academic year 2020-21. Under this program, the admitted candidates will receive two degrees concurrently, i.e., M.Tech degree from DIAT and an M.Sc degree from CU in respective disciplines. Admission will be open for sponsored officers from Indian Army, Navy, Air force, Defence Public Sector Undertakings, DRDO and Indian Ordnance Factory as well as civilian scholarship students. The program will be of two
years duration wherein the candidates will undertake their studies of two semesters at DIAT and two semesters at CU. The admission to the DD program will be subject to Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) clearance of the UK government as needed for study
certain subjects in the UK. One complete form containing the required/relevant information will be made available at both website and information brochure of DIAT and CU.
Eligibility:
1. Educational qualifications as per DIAT norms.
2. Valid GATE score (only for civilian scholarship students).
3. Valid IELTS band score of 7.5 or more.
4. Valid passport and Visa.
5. Any other eligibility criteria (if not mentioned here) will be governed by the existing
norms of DIAT and CU.
Admission Procedure:
The applicant will fill a single form for the admission of DD program. The form will include the details needed by CU as well as DIAT. The data needed by CU will be forwarded by DIAT to CU for processing application for admission to the respective M.Sc program at CU. Similarly, DIAT will process the application form for admission to M.Tech program. The admission will be offered by DIAT based on the fulfillment of the requirements as applicable for M.Sc as well as M.Tech programs of CU and DIAT respectively.
Specializations at CU:The students admitted in DD program can opt specialization in the following areas for their M.Sc degree from CU.
1. Military Vehicle Technology.
2. Gun System Design.
3. Explosives Ordnance Engineering.
4. Systems Engineering for Defence Capabilities
5. Military Electronics Systems Engineering
6. Defence Simulation and Modelling.
7. Thermal Power
8. Aerospace Vehicle Design
9. Master of Business Administration
Total credits to be completed by the student admitted in M Sc programme is 200 Credits. The 80 credits out of 200 credits earned at CU during M Sc programme will be treated as equivalent to 24 credits of the M. Tech dissertation at DIAT. The balance of 120 credits of courses at CU is over and above the course requirements of M.Tech at DIAT. However, the courses against 120 credits shall be included in DIAT courses of study as electives at appropriate places.
After completion of the study at the both campuses; the candidate will be awarded an M.Tech degree in respective specialization by DIAT and an M.Sc degree by the Cranfield University in the selected specialization. Both degrees certificate will be handed over to successful candidates during DIAT Convocation as per DIAT norms. The degrees M.Tech by DIAT and M.Sc by Cranfield University will be awarded only if the student has successfully completed the academic requirements of both the degrees as prescribed by the respective universities. The students enrolled in this program will not be eligible for consideration of gold medal or other merit awards of DIAT.
