Sainik School were established in the country with the aim of preparing boys academically, mentally and physically for entry into the National Defence Academy and other Defence Academies, who hail from financially weaker sections of the society and thereby removing the regional imbalance for such entries in the Armed Forces.

The entrance exams for all the Sainik schools will be conducted by the National Testing Agency. National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions
