According to the official NIRF Ranking 2023, there are top 22 universities in Tamil Nadu which has been included in the list of top 100 Universities in India. There are more than 56 universities in Tamil Nadu as on date. Out of which:- Total No. of Government Universities are 24. Central Universities are 2. State Universities are 22. Total No. of Private Universities are 4. Total No. of Deemed Universities are 28. The name of the central universities are Central University of Tamil Nadu and Indian Maritime University.
