University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the launch of Cyber security course on the occasion of Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas (06-10-2022).
It is observed that with the evolution of information communication technology there are growing security concerns which demands flexible and generally comprehensive approach towards cyber security. Hence UGC felt the need to address cyber security in sufficient depth so that even students from non-technical streams will develop a complete picture of cyber issues.
UGC has prepared a holistic syllabus with an objective to create awareness among students to create responsible digital citizens.
This course needs to be incorporated at graduation and post graduation level in all streams. The outcome of the course is planned in such a manner that student upon completing the degree program will be able to understand cyber security threats. Develop understanding on types of cyberattacks, cyber crimes, vulnerabilities and remedies thereto. The students will also be able to analyse and evaluate laws on cyber security.

- Introduction to cyber security
- cyber crime and cyber law
- social media overview and security
- E-commerce and digital payment
- Digital devices security, tools and technologies for cyber security
The PG syllabus of cyber security program includes
- overview of cybersecurity
- cyber crimes
- cyber law
- data privacy and data security
- cyber security management, compliance and governance
This course is designed for 4 credits (3 T + 1 P) i.e 45 hrs of teaching and 30 hrs of practicals in a semester.
