The NIRF provides ranking of institutions in five broad generic groups of parameters, namely: i) Teaching, Learning and Resources; ii) Research and Professional Practice; iii) Graduation Outcomes; iv) Outreach and Inclusivity; and v) Perception. Fig. 1 provides an outline of the various sub-parameters for each of the five generic groups.
Teaching Learning and Resources (TLR) basically includes subsections such as Student Strength (SS), Faculty-Student Ratio (FSR), Faculty with PhD and Experience (FQE), Financial Resources and their Utilisation (FRU). This section has the highest ranking weightage (0.40). Here, Miranda house outperforms in most of the sections with one of the best score in FRU. The college has utilized more than 2 Cr on creation of capital assets. It has utilized approximately 2 Cr in maintenance of Academic Infrastructure and 50 lakhs on seminars/conferences and workshops.
Research and Professional Practice (RP) includes Publications (PU) and Quality of Publications (QP). Miranda House has several centres and Labs like DS Kothari Centre for Research, Advance Research Laboratories and Instrumentation Centre, Open Source Drug Discovery Centre, QuarkNet Nodal Centre, Science Museums, Project Laboratories, Robotics Lab, 3-D Printing Lab, Green Technology Park, UN University Regional Centre of Expertise, which promotes research activity. It has very good score in quality of publications as compared to other colleges.
Graduation Outcomes (GO) includes Placement and Higher Studies (GPH), University Examinations (GUE) and median Salary. The college has very good number of students selected for higher studies and has remarkable placement as compared to other colleges. The median salary of placed graduates was more than 4 lakhs.
Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) which includes Students from Other States/Countries (Region Diversity RD), Percentage of Women (Women Diversity WD), Economically and Socially Challenged Students (ESCS,) Facilities for Physically Challenged Students (PCS). The college has good numbers of students from all over the country and therefore has scored good marks in RD. Since this is a Women’s colleges it has scored full marks in this section. The college has very good facilities for physically challenged students. Almost 80% of the college have lifts and ramps. The college have provision for walking aids, including wheel chairs and transportation from one building to another for handicapped students. Moreover, 80% of the buildings have especially designed toilets for handicapped students.
Apart from this there are several other factors which make this college one of the best performers in the country.
